Delta Crucis (δ Crucis, afgekort as Delta Cru of δ Cru) is ’n ster in die suidelike sterrebeeld Suiderkruis (Crux). Dit het ’n skynbare magnitude van 2,79 en is sowat 345 ligjare van die Son af. Dit is die dofste van die vier helder sterre wat die asterisme Suiderkruis vorm. Delta Crucis het ’n groot massa, hoë temperatuur en vinnige rotasiespoed, en is besig om in ’n reusester te ontwikkel.

Eienskappe wysig

Die ster het ’n sterreklassifikasie van B2 IV,[1] en is dus ’n subreus wat van die hoofreeks af wegbeweeg. Ná sy rooireusfase sal dit ’n witdwerg word. Sy ligsterkte is tans 10 000 keer dié van die Son en sy effektiewe temperatuur 22 570 K;[4] dit gee daaraan die blouwit skynsel van ’n B-tipe ster.[12]

Delta Crucis is ’n sterk kandidaat-Beta Cephei-veranderlike[10] wat sy helderheid met ’n periode van 1,3 uur subtiel verander. Sy rotasiesnelheid is baie vinnig: sowat 210 km s-1.[9]
