[[Nasa]] se [[Dawn-ruimtetuig]] het op 16 Julie 2011 in ’n wentelbaan om Vesta inbeweeg vir ’n jaar lange ondersoek van die asteroïde. Dit het op 5 September 2012 die wentelbaan verlaat<ref name=Dawnstatus>[http://dawn.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status.asp ''Dawn'' mission status]</ref> om verder na Ceres te reis. Dit het dié dwergplaneet in Februarie 2015 bereik.
