Magahi behoort tot die [[Bihari-tale]], d.w.s. tale wat nou verwant is aan Hindi en soms as [[dialek]]te van dié taal beskou word. Die Bihari-tale vorm 'n dialekkontinuum wat 'n presiese afbakening van enkele tale moeilik maak.
