Termiese geleidingsvermoë verander met temperatuur. Vir die meeste materiale verminder dit effens soos die temperatuur styg. Aangesien diamant 'n hoë termiese geleidingsvermoë het en natuurlike blou diamant selfs 'n hoër geleidingsvermoë het kan 'n mens die edelgesteentes vir egtheid toets deur van 'n toetser van termiese geleidingsvermoë gebruik te maak.
