Die tabel hierbenede gee vergelykings met absolute hardheid soos gemeet met 'n [[hardheidsmeter]]. Mohs se skaal is 'n suiwer [[ordinaal|ordinale]] skaal aangesien [[korund]] byvoorbeeld byna dubbel so hard is as [[topaas]] terwyl [[diamant]] byna vier keer harder is as korund.
