Parameter names and descriptions

Parameter name	Description
name	Name of dam
image	Filename of image of the dam
image_size	Overrides the default 250px (avoid using)
caption	Text for caption beneath image
official_name	Official name
crosses	Body of river or stream below dam
locale	General area where located (e.g., Aswan, Indiana-Kentucky State Line)
type	Type of dam (e.g. Rockfill dam with inclined clay core )
length	Length of dam crown, w/ metric conversions
height	Height over foundation bed, w/ metric conversions
hydraulic_head
width	Width at base of dam, w/ metric conversions
spillway_type	Type of spillway
spillway_capacity	Capacity of spillway
began	Date construction began
open	Opening date
closed	Closing date
cost
owner	Owner or owners of dam
maint	Maintaining entity if different from owner (e.g., Hydro-Quebec, California Department of Transportation)
reservoir	Name of upstream body of water, if different than "crosses"
reservoir_capacity	Capacity of reservoir, i.e. megalitres
reservoir_catchment	Area of catchment for reservoir
reservoir_surface	Surface area (top water level) of reservoir
depth	Maximum water depth of reservoir
plant_owner	Owner or owners of the hydroelectric power plant (if different than owner of the dam)
plant_operator	Operator of the hydroelectric power plant (if different than owner)
turbines	Number of turbines, and make if known. See Steam turbine or Wind turbine
installed_capacity	Installed generation capacity, measured in megawatts (MW). See Capacity
max_capacity	Maximum generation capacity in megawatts, if different from installed capacity. (e.g. The 850 MW Manapouri Power Station in New Zealand is restricted to 730 MW due to resource consent conditions.)
annual_generation	Average annual generation, measured in gigawatt-hours (GWh)
pumped_storage	If the hydroelectric plant is pumped-storage power plant, mark "yes"
com	Power plant commissioning date. May be different than dam closing date
decom	Power plant decommissioning date. May be different than dam opening date
bridge_carries	If Dam is also a bridge: traffic type and route number (e.g. "2 lanes of [[Route 1]]", "foot traffic"). Required to display other bridge_ values
bridge_width	width of bridge surface
bridge_clearance	Vertical Clearance for traffic on top of the bridge, if obstructed
bridge_traffic	Average Daily Traffic value
bridge_toll	Price of the toll (if a toll bridge)
bridge_id	National Bridge ID#, if available
map_cue	Header for map image
map_image	Filename of map image
map_text	Caption beneath map image
map_width	Overrides the default 235 (avoid using)
location_map	Name of a {{Location map}}. The coordinates must be specified as well.
location_map_text	Caption beneath the location map
location_map_width	Overrides the default 235 (avoid using)
lat_d	Latitude degrees.
lat_m	Latitude minutes. Omit or leave blank if lat_d has a decimal value.
lat_s	Latitude seconds. Omit or leave blank if lat_d has a decimal value.
lat_NS	Latitude North or South (enter N or S). Omit or leave blank if lat_d has a decimal value.
long_d	Longitude degrees.
long_m	Longitude minutes. Omit or leave blank if long_d has a decimal value.
long_s	Longitude seconds. Omit or leave blank if long_d has a decimal value.
long_EW	Longitude East or West (enter E or W). Omit or leave blank if long_d has a decimal value.
coordinates_type	See Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates#Parameters for more details, (e.g., region:US_type:landmark).
coordinates_display	Default is to display both inline and in the title, but it can be set to inline to suppress display of coordinates in title region.
extras	free form, spans both columns, use sparingly
website	Raw wikitext representing a website. Use [brackets] where appropriate

The coordinates can be specified using one of three different methods

1. lat_d, lat_m, lat_s, lat_NS, long_d, long_m, long_s, long_EW – For DMS style coordinates which can be used specify the pushpin in a {{Location map}}.
2. lat_d and long_d – for decimal style coordinates which can be used to specify the pushpin in a {{Location map}}.
3. coordinates – with a {{coord}} template which cannot be used with the Sjabloon:Tld.
