Die DA het sy posisie baie verbeter en dié party het daarmee die sterkste opposisieparty nóg geword sedert die einde van [[apartheid]]. In die Wes-Kaap is sy posisie dominant. In Kaapstad het sy steun gegroei van 42.3% na 63.0%. In die [[Nelson Mandelabaai Metropolitaanse Munisipaliteit|Nelson Mandelabaai Munisipaliteit]] het die ANC net-net sy meerderheid behou, maar sy steun het met 15.5% verminder. Die aantal munisipaliteite waar die DA die meerderheid het, het van 6 na 13 toegeneem.
