Uranus se helderheid is tussen +5.5 en +6.0, wat beteken dat dit op 'n goeie aand gesien kan word met die blote oog as 'n ligte ster. Dit kan maklik gevind word met verkykers. Met 'n amateur teleskoop gee die planeet 'n ligte blou skynsel en twee van die mane ([[Titania (maan)|Titania]] en [[Oberon (maan)|Oberon]]) kan van tyd tot tyd gesien word.
