Paul Theroux
Paul Edward Theroux (gebore op 10 April 1941) is 'n Amerikaanse reisskrywer en romansier. Sy bekendste werk is The Great Railway Bazaar (1975). Hy het verskeie fiksiewerke gepubliseer, waarvan sommige vir rolprent verwerk is. Die James Tait Black-gedenkprys is in 1981 aan hom toegeken vir sy roman The Mosquito Coast, wat verwerk is vir die gelyknamige rolprent uit 1986.

Hy is die vader van die skrywers en filmmakers Marcel Theroux en Louis Theroux; die broer van die skrywers Alexander Theroux en Peter Theroux; en die oom van die Amerikaanse akteur en draaiboekskrywer Justin Theroux.

Theroux is in Medford, Massachusetts gebore as die derde van sewe kinders.[1] Sy ma Anne (née Dittami) was Italiaans-Amerikaans en sy pa, Albert Eugene Theroux, Frans-Kanadees.[2][3]
Sy ma was 'n skoolonderwyseres en skilder,[4] en sy pa 'n skoenverkoper vir die Amerikaanse Leather Oak-maatskappy.[4][5]
Theroux het aan die Universiteit van Maine in Orono (1959–60) en die Universiteit van Massachusetts Amherst studeer waar hy in 1963 'n B.A.-graad in Engels verwerf het.
