Библия символизирует жившего в Алуксне лютеранского учителя Йоганна Эрнста Глюка, который в 1689 году закончил первый перевод Библии на латышский язык.
Примечание: интересна судьба самого Й. Э. Глюка - в 1704 году российские войска заняли Алуксне (тогда по-немецки называемую Мариенбург) и угнали в плен все ее население, включая Глюка и его семью. Воспитанница Глюка, Марта Скавронска впоследствии стала императрицей Екатериной I. Ее опекуна царь Петр I назначил ректором Московской гимназии, но тот в 1705 году скончался.
