English: Following information from Lins Oz in comment below:

This photo is at Kwato Island near Samarai Island in the China Strait in Papua New Guinea. A London Missionary Society outpost was established here in 1891. Wikipedia also has a photo of a cricket match there in 1905. Technically this was Territory of Papua from 1905. Pre 1905 known as British New Guinea. The Reverend Abel and his love of cricket captured in this posed photo c 1905 - and it was even distributed as a coloured postcard. Rev Charles William Abel (1862-1930) - his biography at ANU lists activities that " included carpentry for boys, sewing and fine lace work for girls, and sport, especially cricket."
