This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Levels adjusted, including adding a small amount of yellow (true greyscale looks unnatural for engravings: paper isn't a pure grey. dirt, ink blotches, and similar damage/printing errors fixed (engravings are mass produced, so I see no reason to keep the flaws of a particular copy); text selectively darkened slightly, rotated - text had to be rotated separately to the image, due to them not being in line. etc..
