Die 60ste Oscar-toekenningsaand is op 11 April 1988 deur die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles gehou om erkenning te gee aan die rolprente van 1987. Die aanbieder was Chevy Chase.

Die Skrywersgilde van Amerika se staking, wat op 7 Maart begin het, is ’n paar keer tydens die seremonie genoem, soos toe Chase gesê het sy "hele monoloog is goedgunstig geskenk deur vyf vragmotorbestuurders".[1]

Die seremonie is oorheers deur die prente The Last Emperor, wat al nege sy benoemings gewen het, en Moonstruck, wat ses benoemings gekry en drie Oscars gewen het. The Last Emperor het die rekord van Gigi van 1959 geëwenaar van die meeste benoemings waarvan almal gewen is. Dit was ook die eerste prent ná Gigi wat die Oscar vir beste prent gewen het sonder om enige benoemings vir toneelspel te kry.
