Phakt (ook Alpha Columbae of α Col genoem) is met ’n skynbare magnitude van 2,6[3] die helderste ster in die suidelike sterrebeeld Duif (Columba). Dit is sowat 261 ligjare van die Son af.[2]

Naam wysig

Die ster se Bayer-naam is Alpha Columbae. Die amptelike naam, Phakt (ook Phact, Phad of Phaet gespel)[8][9][10] kom van die Arabiese فاجتة fākhitah, "lemoenduif". Dit is oorspronklik vir die sterrebeeld Duif gebruik en later vir die ster.[11][12][13][14]

In 2016 het die Internasionale Astronomiese Unie se sternaamwerkgroep (WGSN) die naam "Phakt" vir die ster goedgekeur.[15]

Eienskappe wysig

Phakt is vermoedelik ’n enkelster,[7][16] hoewel dit ’n dowwe optiese metgesel teen ’n hoekskeiding van 13,5 boogsekondes het, wat dit ’n dubbelster sal maak.[17] Sy sterreklassifikasie is B7 IV,[1] waar die ligsterkteklas IV aandui dit is ’n geëvolueerde subreus. Sy spektrum wys dit is ’n Be-ster wat omring is deur ’n gasskyf.[10] Nes die meeste van dié sterre (of almal) draai dit vinnig, met ’n rotasiespoed van sowat 176 km/s-1. Dit is vermoedelik ’n Gamma Cassiopeiae-veranderlike, met sy skynbare magnitude wat wissel tussen 2,62 en 2,66.
