Alpha Doradus
Alpha Doradus (afgekort as α Dor) is die helderste ster in die suidelike sterrebeeld Swaardvis (Dorado). Dit is sowat 169 ligjare van die Son af.[7]

α Dor is ’n dubbelster[5] met ’n gesamentlike skynbare magnitude wat wissel tussen 3,26 en 3,30.[6] Dit is dus een van die helderste sterre, en die helderste ligpunt in dié sterrebeeld.[8] Die stelsel bestaan uit ’n B-tipe subreus wat met ’n periode van 12 jaar in ’n eksentrieke wentelbaan om ’n A-tipe reusester wentel.[1][9] Die skeiding tussen die sterre wissel van 2 tot 17,5 AE. Die primêre ster, α Doradus A, is ’n chemies buitengewone ster met ’n oorvloed silikon in sy atmosfeer.[4]
Alpha Doradus het ’n optiese metgesel, CCDM J04340-5503C, sowat 77 boogsekondes van hom af. Daar is geen fisieke verband tussen dié ster en die dubbelster nie.[1][10]
