Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie (gebore 19 Junie 1947) is 'n Brits-Indiese romanskrywer en essayis.[1] Sy tweede roman, Midnight's Children, het in 1981 die Booker-prys gewen. Sy kontroversiële vierde roman, The Satanic Verses, het internasionaal opspraak gewek toe die ajatolla Ruhollah Khomeini as gevolg daarvan 'n fatwā vir Rushdie se teregstelling op 14 Februarie 1989 uitgevaardig het.
