Cliff Richard
Cliff Richard (gebore 14 Oktober 1940) is 'n Engelse sanger en akteur. Hy het totale verkope van meer as 21,5 miljoen enkelsnitte in die Verenigde Koninkryk en is die derde topverkoper-kunstenaar in die geskiedenis van die Britse enkelspelranglys, na die Beatles en Elvis Presley.[1]

Richard is oorspronklik bemark as 'n rebelse rock en roll sanger in die styl van Elvis Presley en Little Richard.[2] Met sy agtergrondgroep, die Shadows, het hy die Britse populêre musiektoneel in die pre-Beatles-tydperk van die laat 1950's tot vroeë 1960's oorheers. Sy 1958-treffer-enkelsnit "Move It" word dikwels beskryf as Brittanje se eerste outentieke rock en roll-liedjie. In die vroeë 1960's het hy 'n suksesvolle skermloopbaan gehad met rolprente soos The Young Ones, Summer Holiday en Wonderful Life en sy eie televisieprogram by die BBC. Hy het 14 VK No. 1-enkelspelers behaal,[6] en is die enigste sanger wat in elk van vyf opeenvolgende dekades 'n No. 1-enkelsnit in die VK gehad het.[7] Hy het ook vier Britse Kersfees No. 1 enkelsnitte gehad, waarvan twee as solokunstenaar was; "Mistletoe and Wine" en "Saviour's Day".
