Alpha Telescopii
Alpha Telescopii (afgekort as α Tel) is die helderste ster in die suidelike sterrebeeld Teleskoop (Telescopium); dit het ’n skynbare magnitude van 3,5[3] – wat met 0,22 verdof word deur ruimtestof.[4] Die antieke Romeinse sterrekundige Ptolemeus het dit in die Suidelike Kroon ingesluit, maar dit is na die Teleskoop geskuif nadat die Franse sterrekundige Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille dit in die 18de eeu geskep het.[8] Volgens parallaksmetings is dit sowat 278 ligjare van die Son af.

Die ster is baie groter as die Son, met ’n massa van sowat 5,2 keer soveel en ’n radius van omtrent 3,3 keer soveel.[5] Sy sterreklassifikasie is B3 IV,[1] waar die ligsterkteklas "IV" aandui dit is ’n subreus wat amper die waterstof in sy kern opgebruik het en besig is om weg van die hoofreeks te evolueer. Alpha Telescopii is ’n helder ster, met ’n ligsterkte van sowat 800 keer die Son s’n danksy sy effektiewe temperatuur van sowat 16 700 K,[5] wat dit die tipiese blouwit kleur van ’n B-tipe ster gee.[9]
Dit is moontlik ’n veranderlike ster: ’n stadig pulserende B-ster. Sy rotasiespoed van 14 km s11 word as stadig beskou vir ’n ster van dié soort[5] en is dalk ’n aanduiding dat die uitsig van die Aarde af byna reg op een van sy pole is.[10]
