Op 4 Februarie 2022 was HD 84406 die eerste ster wat deur die James Webb-ruimteteleskoop afgeneem is om die 18 segmente van die teleskoop se primêre spieël te toets en in te stel.[6][7][8] Op 11 Februarie 2022 het Nasa die eerste foto's van HD 84406 gepubliseer.[9]
