Chasmanthe aethiopica is 'n meerjarige plant en geofiet wat tot die genus Chasmanthe behoort en is deel van die fynbos. Die plant is endemies aan die Oos- en die Wes-Kaap. Die plant word 40 tot 65 cm hoog en blom van April tot Julie. Die blomme is rooi-pers.
